If they would forget, I would usually remind them to make sure that I got their blessing. As I recall what I thought about while they blessed me, I realize that the blessing meant several different things. The first thing was that it was sort of like my parents telling me that I was all right. It was a sign of their love, and it improved my self-esteem. And not only was I accepted by them, but by God as well. It was as if God were talking through my parents, telling me that He will always be with me and He will always love me, no matter what I go through. Both God and my parents were telling me that I was loved and that they will always be there for me. 14
