7 complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col. 2:1-3, NIV). During the years of the Old Testament, the coming and work of the Messiah was hinted at and alluded to, but was still a mystery to the people of God because the full picture regarding the Messiah was still hidden in the mind of God. When Jesus came, fulfilling God’s promises down through the centuries, living the first and only absolutely sinless and perfect life and then, dying for the sins of His children – suddenly all the detail was sketched in! God’s people, on this side of the cross, realize that Christ’s death and resurrection is the basis for their forgiveness and new life in the grace of the Lord. We must live as branches in union with the One who is the vine. He is our strength and confidence for the future. We must rely upon Him! How many of us are really wise? Only those who realize that here and now we are only on a journey to real wisdom – with the aid and assistance and work of the Lord Jesus we will get
