Fight!

My mom, Ruth Baer, wrote this back in 2018. It somehow fell through the cracks, so having just read it recently, I realized, yet again, there is nothing new under the sun. This was true then; this is true now. Parents and grandparents, take this to heart!

I listened to another messy story from a mother today. One that highlights the brokenness in our world and the invasion of secular (worldly) culture, impacting our families negatively!

As I walked & cried out to Jesus for these precious children, He whispered, no declared loudly one word: FIGHT

Fight! We must fight for our children and grandchildren. The secular culture that has impacted our families negatively is the culture that believes in NO absolutes, that does not believe that the Bible is God’s authority, and does not know Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. It has taught our children and grandchildren that they can live the way they want and still be ok. These are lies from the pit of hell. So. We. Must. Fight.

We must fight for the minds and hearts of our children and grandchildren! Oh, not with the weapons of war with guns and bombs, but with divine weapons that have the power to DEMOLISH strongholds and every thought that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. Such thoughts must be submitted to the obedience of Christ.

In 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, Paul says it this way:

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

On my walk today as I listen to The Sacred Place, Jesus invites me to come alongside Him as He Himself battles for the minds and hearts of my descendants— of His people so that the generation yet unborn will PRAISE Him and declare His wonderful works.

The stream beside me is flowing strong this morning and Jesus reminds me that His Holy Spirit flows powerfully through the generations of faith. He cannot be thwarted!

Finally, do not become weary in doing good – in praying for our children & grandchildren, in fighting for them. “For at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up,” we are promised in Galatians 6.

We may not see the results of our praying, of our fighting, but as certain as God is Sovereign, we can count on the harvest as He promises.

Do you believe that? I do and that’s why I answer His invitation to FIGHT!
